Gary started his career in insurance consulting in 1989, choosing to specialize in employee benefit planning. As the founding partner of CBP (CBP), he has been instrumental in shaping the company's direction, ranging from corporate positioning and strategic alliances to technology initiatives and staffing. Currently, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the business and helps the company execute against its strategic vision.
Prior to starting CBP, Gary was a senior benefit consultant with New England Financial, a large insurance and investment company affiliated with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. While there, Gary developed and led the Group Benefits practice, and was the department's largest producer.
Gary's expertise extends beyond insurance, and he has used his competencies in accounting, technology and business management to benefit his large client base. He has been instrumental in partnering with his clients to develop employer-based Web sites, operating systems and tracking programs to increase efficiencies in their accounts payable and receivables. Additionally, he has partnered with software developers in order to create customized programs that meet the needs of CBP's expanding client base.
Gary is a Registered Investment Adviser, certified insurance consultant, and has qualified for the American College's designations of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Registered Employee Benefit Consultants (REBC). He has been recognized for outstanding sales achievement by General Electric, Anthem, Unum and New England Financial. He served as the Southwest Conn. chapter president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (NAIFA) in 1999 and 2000, and currently sits on the Connecticut Business Industry Association (CBIA) insurance advisory board and on Aetna's advisory council. Additionally, Gary has published articles in several industry trade journals and regional newspapers, including Fairfield County Business Journal, Stamford Advocate and The Norwalk Hour.
He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Robert C. Houghton, Partner
Rob Houghton, an insurance professional since 1990, is the co-founder of CBP. As a managing partner, he is responsible for the firm's forward-facing operations, including business development, marketing, vendor management, employee training and managing key client relationships. Rob's focus on customer service has given CBP an industry-leading client retention rate upwards of 95 percent. He has significant expertise in developing customized programs and strategic initiatives for his clients that have a positive impact on an organization. Additionally, he was instrumental in securing CBP's preferred status level with a nationwide network of insurance vendors, which provides clients an edge during the negotiation process.
Before joining CBP, Rob was a financial consultant for Leaton Financial Group, a leading insurance consulting firm. While there, many leading insurance industry groups recognized him for being a top sales producer.
Rob leads CBP's community outreach program, and is active in several industry groups, serving on the board of the Working with Employee Benefits Association (WEB), serving on the membership committee of the Stamford Chamber of Commerce, and serving as a director of the YMCA of Stamford. Rob is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), a Registered Employee Benefit Consultant (REBC) and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). He also has been recognized with many awards and has qualified as a member of The New England Leaders Association, Union Fidelity's President Club, and General Electric's Premier Producer Program.

Christopher J. Peck, Partner
Chris began his career in insurance in 1996, and offers significant expertise in employee benefit planning, financial planning and underwriting. At CBP, he is responsible for managing and growing the company's expanding client base and supporting strategic marketing initiatives.
Prior to joining CBP, Chris was an agent at New England Financial, a large insurance and investment company affiliated with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. While there, Chris focused on selling insurance and investment products, and he was recognized for the company's Star Producer Award for exceeding his first-year sales targets.
Chris has qualified for the American College's designations of Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Registered Employee Benefit Consultants (REBC). He currently serves on the Board of the Southern CT chapter of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Chris has served on the board of the southwestern Connecticut chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, is a member of the Stamford Chapter of Worldwide Employee Benefits (WEB). He has qualified for Union Fidelity's President's Club and General Electric's Premier Producer Program. He has been recognized for outstanding sales achievement by General Electric, Anthem, and Unum.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University.
